Memphis Unveils New Identity

The Memphis Tradition has ended, as the team moves to Orlando to become the Aviators. The long awaited logo sheet is below.

The primary logo is inspired by the Air Force Enlisted Crew Badge, with the ten stars representing the year they were moved to Orlando (2010) and the 10 teams in MLF. I am more than willing to see this revised, or even redone, so if you want to take a shot at it, the file is below.

Holiday Classic Begins Tommorow!

Okay so I am back from vacation and I will go ahead and start the tournament tommorow, I may only get done with 2 games but I will try and get most of the 1st round knocked out tommorow. If I don't I may have time Sunday or Monday, I go back to school Tuesday so I want to try and get it done by then. I will sim them live and do a scoring recap along with a Game Summary on each game, and I may do a Broadcast of the Championship game. Here is the bracket, I changed some of the match-ups to get some more inter-league play, each game also has the order of games being played.

Looks like the Kings will be playing a couple more games as the Kings since we haven't heard where they are moving to, I seeded them ahead of Las Vegas because the Aces were eliminated from the playoffs first so I guess that means they will get the #1 pick. Wish you guys would comment some more, hopefully the tournament will get this place jumping some because I don't want to sim a bunch of games if no one even cares.

Johnson is coming back to the Gladiators!

Rudi Johnson introduced as a Alabama Gladiator.

PRESS CONFERENCE 8:00 PM HOOVER, ALABAMA - "Good Evening everyone, today is a big day for the Alabama Gladiator Franchise and Gladiator Nation. We have been in talks with Connecticut and we have reached an agreement that will send the Season 2 MVP back to Alabama." The deal sends 2 players and Alabama's 1st Round Draft pick for the Navy's star running back. Connecticut had 2 running backs that were possibly up for sale after Ahman Green had a breakout All-Star season while Johnson was injured. Green will be bumped up to a 87 overall this season and will be the new starter. Rudi drops 1 point from his 90 overall to 89 after sitting out most of the season, he still finished in the top 3 rushing. Michael Harbison also had this to say, "We are very excited to make this deal because we have gained a offensive Superstar, we needed one since Michael Vick is now leaving for the NFL. We are going to try and play Marcus Vick at Quarterback and move Roy Upchurch over to Wide Receiver for the tournament, if they play well, we will likely trade our replacement signing for Michael Vick, if not we will sign a new QB and possibly shop Upchurch or one of our big 3 Receivers." Okay so enough talk, here is the deal broken down.

Alabama gets:
RB Rudi Johnson - 89

Connecticut gets:
RB Michael Smith - 84
DT Grady Jackson - 84
1st Round Draft Pick (8th Overall)

The Navy gain an advantage to their Defensive Line, now Aleric Mullins (84) will slide over to Left Defensive End to make room for Jackson. This is an upgrade because their starter before him was Angelo Craig who is a 74 overall. Smith will likely be a backup and could move to Receiver or Return for the Navy. This is also Rudi Johnson's 2nd turn with the Gladiators, he was a vital part to their East Champion team in Season 1 and almost helped lead them to a Championship.

1st Annual MLF Holiday Classic?

Okay so I think TC came up with this idea a while back, he thought it would be cool to have a Winter Tournament. So I told Mykl about it today and he made a logo for it.

Basically what I was thinking was to have either a 10 team Single or Double Elimination Bracket, I don't know really how to seed everyone. I was kind of wanting to split everyone up in regions but I don't know how that would work. For the rosters we would just have to use last season's because I'd be pushed too much to take out most of the players and try to replace them, the Gladiators may try Marcus Vick out at QB too see how that works, if I decide not too though Michael Vick will play for this tourney. Also, we don't have a identity for droozer's team, now if we know the name and colors we can just use practice styled uniforms like Lincoln did last season but droozer hasn't really said anything about his team in a couple weeks so I guess we will wait to find out. I'd like to start this in the next day or two, I'm leaving for a trip on the 26th and I'll be gone 3 or 4 days so I'd like to get about half of the tournament done by then.

Championship & All-Star Game Locations

The results are in! Looks like the 2011 All-Star game will be played in Boise, Idaho, so that means the all-star game will be played on the smurf turf. And Pasadena, California has been selected as the host for the 2011 Championship game, so that means we will have a rose bowl themed Championship. Out of 3 comments, sounds like South Africa is the favorite for the Globe Game so I'll just go ahead and announce South Africa as the coach, I'm assuming Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg would be the stadium used for this game. If you were thinking a different place, let me know. Mykl I don't know if you want to do the logos or not, but you like doing them so if you wanna make logos for all these go for it, obviously Roses should be in the logo for the Champ. And blue and orange would fit the All-Star game best since that's the true color of the field.

Boise Grizzlies Concept

Well the site has been a little dead lately, so I decided to do a Boise Grizzlies Concept, at first I was just going to move the striping from the last uniform to this new template but as I was doing that I kind of came up with a new design. It is similar to their last set but the striping is a little bit more modern, the pants stripe is supposed to match the jersey sleeves and I can actually make some like these in teambuilder. I kept the helmet the same although I could try out a different striping style if it would look better, I only did a home uniform since this is just a concept, if you like it Beast I can make a whole set and make any changes.

Home and Away Uniforms

Alternate Uniforms

Pro Combat Uniform

For the Pro Combats, I wanted to do something out there because most Pro Combats are, and so far we only have 2 really out there uniforms so I wanted to try and break the retro trend, I used TCU's template but I added a grizzly fur texture all over the uniform. For the pants I just tried something really pro combat-ish.

Memphis Relocation Naming Contest!

Edit: I have made a choice and have PM'd elliott. The choice won't necessarily be the top vote getter and it will be announced once I've designed the uniforms. Thanks for the help.

Ok, so the team will either be relocated to Columbus, Ohio or Orlando, Florida. I'm leaning towards Orlando. I'll keep a running total of the nominations below. Post your suggestions in the comment

                      Orlando                                                                                    Columbus
                       Aviators (2)                                                                                 Cannons
                       Coasters
                        Juicers  (2)

Aces Uniforms

Same jerseys, but with gradients for the regulars, then here's Pro Combat

The Originals
In 2008, the first team in the league was formed in Minor League Football. The Originals are the Las Vegas Aces, who were the first of many things in the league. First Team, first MVP, first champions. This is a throwback jersey representing the classic team. Gold helmets and pants break away from the traditional white. The iconic stripes are located on the sleeves. Led by John Parker Wilson, and DJ Hall, the Aces try to revert back to classic form.

Pioneers Unveil New Uniforms

The Lincoln Pioneers have unveiled their uniforms for Season 4. The uniforms are pretty much the same as last season, however there are several differences with the switch to Nike. An alternate uniform is introduced, a gold jersey in the same design as the home and road. An alternate white helmet and white pants are to be worn with. The Nike Pro Combat uniform is retro-based.

Memphis Relocating

Okay so I figured I should make a thread about this. Droozer said he wants to move Memphis to Norfolk, Virgina and name them the Ironclads. The only problem I have with this is that Ironclads is a warship used by....the navy. And we already have the Connecticut Navy in the league so I think you should go in a different direction.

Also Norfolk's stadium only holds 27,700 and it looks like a weak stadium.

Norfolk has been Turned Down, some suggestions of other locations would be Columbus, Orlando, Boston, I'm sure there are some other good markets too.

Alabama Gladiators Unveil 2011 Uniforms

New Uniforms with piping and and sword stripes on the shoulders. Red Helmet has a black facemask now too. The Pro Combat features a Gray helmet with a black finish around the edges of the helmet (to blend into the eye on the helmet). It is based off of Gladiator Armor, it will be worn in Week 5 @ Louisville. Season 2 Throwbacks will be worn for the Season Opener against the Quebec Polaires.

Season 2 Throwbacks (Click to see Action Shot)

Yeah we know Michael Vick won't be back next season but we are confident in our "replacement" plans, the new uniforms kind of represent a new era, since Vick was the Starting QB the past two seasons. We are also interested in acquiring a big name runningback this off-season. I edited the uniforms some to make all the sword stripes consistent, TC pointed out to me that they weren't.

Louisville Shockers Unveil 2011 Uniforms

Yeah I've been in a concept mood alot lately, and before the worst Iron Bowl I have ever watched started I worked on this for a couple hours and finished it after the game. I pm'ed BJ about new Shocker uniforms after the season, they have worn probably the most creative uniforms the past 2 seasons. I wanted to keep that going but make it less Under Armor-ish. So that's exactly what I did, I took inspiration from Virginia Tech's Pro Combat Uniforms. Basically replacing the stripes with Lightning Bolts. I also used Tech's number font because I think it fits the team well. Everything else is pretty similar to the last set. Same Helmet, and black and white pants that are interchangeable. Now to the Pro Combat, once again I used TC's Retro Uniform as a base. The Uniforms are "Electric Blue" Monochromes. I moved the stripes down to the undershirt once again, and then the pants use the same pattern but it is like LSU's Pro Combat stripes. I also included the normal primary logo on the pants. I tried using a real picture of lightning bolts as a texture to use on the helmets and numbers but I couldn't get it to look right.

Home and Away

Alternate and Pro Combat

Hope you like them BJ, I'm sure TC will be able to render it in Inkscape better then I could in Paint but I tried my best to make it look good. If you would like changes to anything just let me know.

I will probably go ahead and unveil Alabama's new uniforms tommorow even though I planned on waiting.

Navy Conn-cept

Okay, so I decided I would do a tweak to the Navy's Uniforms, along with a Pro Combat Uniform for them. First thing I did was switch the anchor logo with last year's Retro Anchor. It just looks a lot better IMO. I recolored it so the Navy could keep the original Navy and Yellow colors. The Uniforms are really the same, the cut is completely different, switching it to a Nike PC template. The logo is also added to the pants. The Alternate Yellow jersey has been tweaked a little bit, I reversed the collar colors to stay consistent with the rest of the set. Now to my favorite part of the Conn-cept: The Pro Combat Uniforms. I used TC's Retro set as a base, and I added some Pro Combat elements in here. The Helmet is different, using a Navy facemask and a solid Navy Anchor logo. The Jersey features Gold on Navy, the Flywire is actually colored Gold to bring in a modern twist. The Stripes are also moved to the undershirt to make room for the numbers on the sleeves. I also took the names off the back to throw in another retro element. The pants are solid gold with the Anchor logo on the sides and NAVY on the back.

Home and Away

Alternate and Pro Combat

If you like them let me know Throwback, I can also change anything if I need too. Also guys, check out the Photo section on the Nav Bar, it now has a slideshow of Players. I'm almost done with stats, and I should get around to doing some more PoTW photos this weekend. I also made an update to Hawaii's pro combats.

Hawaii Tropics Unveil 2011 Uniforms

The Tropics are getting new uniforms...again! The Tropics are known for wearing modern styled uniforms and they have changed uniforms all 4 seasons so far. This year Nike has come up with a uniform set using the "Swag Cut" created by me (see Miami in my NCAA Concepts). The Logo is sublimated on the back of the uniforms similar to Nike's SoD uniforms. The set includes a aqua Helmet with orange stripe and aqua pants. The alternates are based on last year's retro uniforms. And I have already posted the Pro Combat Uniforms.

Made an update to the regular uniforms, sizemore wanted me to change the number font back to what the used in Season 2.

Hawaii's Brennan injured, Ace's Hall arrested

Tropics Starting Quarterback Colt Brennan was injured in a car wreck and is in Serious Condition. His girlfriend was driving and collided with another car on the interstate.

The Doctor said that Brennan's injuries are not life threatening, but he suffered broken ribs, broken collarbone, and head-injuries. The good thing for the Tropics is that the season is a long way from starting so he should recover but this was just some news that involved our league so I thought I should post it.

Plus, it could be some Icebreaker news since the site has been kind of dead the past week or so, I've added the Jason White and Michael Vick All-Star photos to Player of the Week, more to come soon. Also, Droozer you need to be letting us know about your team soon, such as the name and if you are relocating or not.

Also.... I forgot to mention this back when it happened, although it was after the season was over. Las Vegas Wide Receiver D.J. Hall was arrested for marijuana in Tuscaloosa, Alabama about a month ago and has been released on bond. I guess I'll leave it up to the league to decide if he should be suspended or anything like that.

Hawaii Pro Combat Concept

Well with the schedule announced and everything, I decided I would do a concept for the Tropics. Since sizemore wanted the helmets he made I tried basing the whole concept off of that and using something similar to Mykl's Japan concept. I used a Orange jersey since they don't have a regular orange alternate. I also put Hawaii on the chest which would be the first time the Tropics have ever put Hawaii on their uniforms. I kind of did 2 options here because I couldn't decide which one looked better, I did one with the Logos blown up on the sleeves and one without the logos on the sleeves. So sizemore if you like it you can decided which option you want to use or if you want me to make some changes just let me know. I also did new set for your regular season uniforms but I want TC to help me finish them so whenever he finds some time to do that we will post them (not rushing you at all TC).

Edit- Made an update, the sleeve logos aren't blown up as much. I also used a block font to match the "Hawaii" text, I added Hawaii to the pants too.

I still have a option without the Sleeve logos so if you rather have that sizemore let me know.

Season 4 Schedule

Okay guys, I worked on this for a couple of hours. I've always seen the Helmet Schedules for College Football teams and thought that would be a cool thing to do. So I have completed the Schedule for Season 4. Hopefully I didn't make any errors because I spent a lot of time working on it but I need everyone to check and make sure I didn't. Every team should have 5 Home games, 5 Away games, 2 Interleague (1 Home, 1 Away). I'll probably update the Excell sheet after new helmets come out and Droozer names his team so until then I'll wait to email the Excell sheet.

The only teams that I updated helmets for were Alabama and San Antonio, but like I said, when all the new uniforms come out I will edit it. The red text indicates Away games, while the black text indicates Home games. Lincoln-Louisville has a star by it because it will be the Globe Game this season making it a neutral site.

Pro Combat Week will be Week 5!!!

So that means.......

Home teams are Boise, Hawaii, Lincoln, Louisville, and Connecticut

Road teams are Droozer, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Alabama, and Quebec

If for some reason you want to wear light colored uniforms at Home then let me know so we can make sure the Road team for that game wears Dark uniforms.

And then in Week 1, Alabama and Quebec will be wearing Season 2 "Throwbacks". TC's idea to memorize his Championship team and I decided the Gladiators might as well throwback too.

Droozer taking over Memphis

It looks like Droozer is taking over the Memphis Kings Franchise. He said that the team may be relocated to Columbus, Ohio. The relocation of the team has been approved by league commission(approved by me). So Droozer you just need to decide if you are moving, preferably as soon as possible, so we can work on getting you a logo package and uniforms way before the season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay so as I said in the last post, MBurmy never checked in, and he has never really been that active except he did make some big changes to the team's roster last off-season. I have no problem with Burmy but I do think we need someone who will pay more attention. So this means we need a new owner for the Memphis Kings Franchise, and obviously I would say Droozer and Brian (The Barrish) are the first two we would ask to take over a team.

So if you guys would like the team just comment and let us know any extra info, like stuff you would be willing to do for the league, or if you want to move the team, where would you move them? etc.

If we have more then 2 or 3 people apply then we will most likely have a vote between the owners.

Memphis is a very good franchise to take over, surprisingly they probably have the best statistical defense in the league. And they had the most Defensive All-Stars on the East team this year, the Offense is good but it could probably use a makeover considering the runningbacks haven't been that great and Graham Harrell has just been kind of a mediocre player.

Uniforms and other News!

Okay so everyone has checked in except Burmy, and I think it is safe to say that most people rather replace him anyways. Burmy has been an entertaining owner at some points but he doesn't ever check and I think we just need to have a more lively owner. I think everyone else is okay, but Throwback if you want to stay in the league you need to become more active or you may go out like Burmy.

Now one of the big changes this season is the move to Nike, Nike has taken over the Pro Football World, first they signed a deal with us and now they have signed a deal with the NFL. This year Nike will be giving all 10 Minor League Football teams new uniform cuts and a Pro Combat Alternate Uniform that will be worn in place during a Promotional Uniform Week. This season TC will be placing all of the uniforms on a Style Guide, and we have put together a Uniform history that he is going to start working on and posting to the site soon. This year to get everyone a little bit more involved we are going to have a Combo Schedule, which tells what combos you are going to wear each week. Also if you are getting new uniforms make sure you use 2 helmets, up to 4 jerseys (2 colored, 2 white) and 2 pants. If you want to add a throwback set you can, just make sure to tell me what week you want to wear it so I can change the teambuilder team. Alright I'm going to post the 10 teams, and I may post ideas I have for possible changes but you don't have to listen to them if you don't want haha.

Alabama - New Uniforms this season! I'm not unveiling them to everyone until TC gets done with the style guide.

Boise - New green jerseys in the style of their Away Uniforms, the green jerseys will also be the Home jerseys for this season. Also, tan Uniforms will be made as a alternate in place of brown this year. They are also replacing the tan pants with brown.

Connecticut - I like Throwback's classic uniforms, but I think he should switch his current Anchor Logo with TC's Retro logo, I'm sure he could swap the gold and yellow and use that logo on your current uniform set.

Las Vegas - Mykl has confirmed the Aces are getting new uniforms this season.

Lincoln - Bmac said that there will be minor changes to uniforms.

Louisville - The Shockers will most likely be getting new Nike Styled Uniforms.

Hawaii - New Nike Uniforms in the works, Retro Uniforms will be returning as Alternates this year.

Memphis - It would be nice to seperate them from Quebec, who knows with a new owner they may be rebranding.

Quebec - TC has confirmed new uniforms.

San Antonio - New Helmets with "Glow in the Dark" Flakes added into paint.

Offseason Discussion!

So as this Season 3's come to a close, I'd say that overall the year was a success, especially compared to last year. What we've learned this year is that it's very hard to sim games when any of us are in school, but that when it's during the summer, we generally can do this well. Some things to think about and some reasoning too.

-Expansion?
Not happening. :P

-Spring Football? Reducing Games?
What we learned this year is that the beginning of the school year is a hectic time for all of us. Which means that we need to be aiming for the season to be over by the middle of August. Which leaves us with two options, starting the season in April or May, or reducing the season to 8 games. If we'd go with April and May games, I'd aim for each week to be a total of 2 weeks, so that we could spread out the simming over two weeks. Alternatively, we could cut back to 8 weeks on the season if we started in June.

-Extra Simmer?
Also, it'd be nice to find someone else who can sim these games for us, as a lot of what holds us up sometimes is my busy sports and travel schedule. I'm out of town a lot, and it shows in how we can miss a week. Additionally, if we get a 3rd simmer, each of us would only have to do 2 games a week, which would be really nice.

-Also, I'll go ahead and make this a check-in. So we know that you're still committed to the MLF, I'd like to hear responses from all 9 other owners with your thoughts on the above things, and with your own "reforms" that you'd do. We'll probably hold a vote on these things in the next coming month, and anyone who doesn't vote on that will be deemed as a "dead owner" and will likely be replaced.

Playoff Rosters

Okay so the good thing is neither team play tonight but Lincoln and Louisville both have some injuries and they really need to sign someone to replace the players on the roster, especially Lincoln who only has 3 active Cornerbacks at the moment.

Lincoln needs to sign a CB and a C, the players do not cost anything since they are replacing a injured player and it will be up to the team if they want to keep them beyond the season.

Lincoln has signed C Kevin Sampson/ 71, and CB Brian Jackson/ 81.

Louisville only has 3 Runningbacks active right now, and I would suggest signing one since the 3rd and 4th string are 74 overalls. Davenport is back, but Chris R. Brown (NFL dropout), his main backup was injured.

Louisville has signed RB Chris Brown/ 80 (Rookie out of Oklahoma)
