Hawai'i Tropics Unveil New 2010 Uniforms

Edited by Big Mike: Hope you don't mind me replacing the team builder pictures Sizemore but I decided to do a rendering of the uniforms on paint. I just like having everyone's uniforms in my MLF folder so I figured I'd do this (I used Oilers font by the way because its round and the 88 on it matches Team builders).

MLF Season 2 (09-10) Awards

Alright here are the Award results for the 2nd Minor League Football Season (Winter 09-10).

Most Valuable Player - Navy RB Rudi Johnson: Last year's MVP was Ryan Leaf, who got suspended for the whole season after being arrested. His replacement John Parker Wilson proved to be the best QB in the league and tryed bringing 2 MVP Awards to Las Vegas, but he was beat. Connecticut Runningback Rudi Johnson who was t
he first player on the roster and the foundation of the team came out and had a great game every single week. He won Player of the Week in Week 2 where he had 254 (104 rushing) total yards, 3 Touchdowns (2 rush), with a 88 yard kickoff return. He had 112 carries for 617 rushing yards (1st in the MLF), and 6 rushing Touchdowns (T-2nd). He also had 9 kick returns for 362 yards, with 2 touchdowns.

Offensive Player of the Year - Ace's QB John Parker Wilson: The Ace's QB missed out on MVP but he won Offensive Player of the Year, JP was easily the best QB in the league throughout the season. He had the most 300+ passing games, he had 129 completions for 1,730 yards with 13 passing touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.

Defensive Player of the Year - Gladiator's LB Takeo Spikes: The Alabama Gladiators won their first 5 games of the season and this was in large thanks to Takeo Spikes who had the most tackles on the team. He had 40 tackles (T-3rd) and 4 TFL (T-2nd). He was one of the best linebackers in the league throughout the season.

Rookie of the Year - Gladiator's QB Michael Vick: Their were some big names up for Rookie of the Year, OPOY and MVP nominee John Parker Wilson, Conn. WR Bobby Engram, and Haw. RB Ian Johnson. Vick is the 2nd oldest rookie out of the four nominees but that didn't slow him down. He had 95 completions for 1262 yards and 8 Touchdowns, and at the best part of his game he had 205 rushing yards on only 29 carries with 4 touchdowns.

Playoff MVP - Quebec QB Jake Plummer: Jake Plummer led Quebec one of the bottom East teams to upsets over Alabama and Connecticut then the Quarterback nicknamed "Pornstache" led the team to a 20-0 win over Lincoln in the Championship.

Globe Game II

This year the Globe Game will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, England. So does anyone have any logo ideas? The game will be played between Quebec and Lincoln and it will be the season opener. I won't be on here from tommorow until next Tuesday, because I'll be going to the beach. We could start the season next weekend if everyone's ready or we can wait an extra week. Also I'll post the Award results (with pics) in a little while.

Albuquerque Franchise Set to Move to Lincoln

The MLF's Albuquerque 47's are no more. The franchise will be moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, to play at Memorial Stadium. Franchise owner Bmac has announced the team will be the Lincoln Pioneers. Bmac wanted to keep some ties to the team's Albuquerque days. The colors are set to be black, green, and silver, similar to the 47's colors. Logos and uniforms are expected later.

League News

Alright, with Free Agency Week over, I've update all the rosters, I'll send them out soon. Brian has finished making the schedule, it looks really good, no back-to-back games between the same teams which happened last year. Got some good Inter-league games too. The first Inter-league game of the season will be The Globe Game between Lincoln and Quebec (Championship Rematch). If you have suggestions for Countries to play at, post them here, and I'll get a poll up soon. We are waiting on some big announcements. Bmac has pretty much announced that Albuquerque is moving to Lincoln, Nebraska this season, so we are waiting on some more information on that, and still awaiting a team name. Bmac if you think you could try and make an announcement this week, then we can try and get to the start of the season sooner. We are also expecting new stadiums from Hawai'i and Quebec, as I said before make sure pick a college stadium (from NCAA 10) to model it after. Also, make sure you vote for all of the award polls that are up right now too. We are trying to aim for the start of the season either next week or the week after. I also thought the Season Opening game should be the Globe Game.

Kevin's Season 3 Prediction *UPDATE*

I've put a lot of thought into this and I would like to share it with all of you. It contains a playoff prediction, as well as player award predictions, and in depth team season predictions. I will warn you though, this will raise some eyebrows. If you guys want we could turn predictions into a league wide contest. Without further adieu, here is my preview of the 2010 MLF Season.

Regular Season:

WEST:

1-Las Vegas Aces 9-1 (7-1)
Led by Quarterback, John Parker Wilson, Las Vegas is virtually unstoppable due to their juggernaut offense. Kevin Jones has a good season at running back, but pales in comparison to the top wide receiver of the season, DJ Hall. Draft pick Brian Kelly also has an all star year at corner back, recording the most interceptions in Las Vegas single season history. Their only big weakness comes in kicker, Shaun Suisham, who misses a last second field goal, causing their only regular season loss in a heart stopper against Boise.

2-Boise Grizzlies 8-2 (6-2)
With a superior all around defense, the Grizzlies allow the fewest points in the west to win the second place position. Rosevelt Colvin records the most sacks in the west and all star honors. On offense the show is run by Shaun King, and his favorite target, Isaac Bruce. Patrick Crayton has a disappointing season, with the third most receiving yards on the team. Kenny Irons also a disappointment as he is surpassed in rushing yards by full back, Lorenzo Neal.

3-San Antonio Nightmare 7-3 (5-3)
San Antonio has their most successful season yet, led by David Carr, who gains the most passing yards, and second most passing touchdowns behind Las Vegas' Wilson. The credit is not all on Carr however, as all three of the 'big three' receivers, Rogers, Galloway, and Furrey have incredible seasons. Also LaGarrette Blount did not disappoint, breaking Nightmare rushing records left and right. Overall however, it is their balance of offense and defense that lead to their success.

4-Albuquerque 47's 3-7 (1-7)
An extremely disappointing season following their championship appearance in season 2. Dante Culpepper is somewhat of a letdown, with an average performance. The thing that led to their demise however, was their weak defense and horrible special teams.

5-Hawaii Tropics 1-9 (1-7)
The worst season in Hawaii history comes as a big surprise, as the franchise has been generally successful. Colt Brennan and Freddie Barnes fail to do anything that they set out to do. However the big problem is on defense, as they have the most yards and touchdowns allowed in the league. Their only bright spot comes in kicker Shane Graham, who hits the most field goals in the league.

EAST:

1-Quebec Polaires 8-2 (7-1)
One of the strongest offenses in the league and a great defense leads to the teams success. The team MVP is Duece McAllister, who comes up with the most yards and touchdowns on the ground in the league. Jake Plummer has another great season, throwing to Joe Horn and Dwayne Jarrett. Kevin Kaesviharn at free safety also picks up the most interceptions in the league. Their only weakness comes in their offensive line, as they allow a lot of sacks on the season.

2-Alabama Gladiators 6-4 (6-2)
Despite having the worst record in Alabama history, the team wins second place in the east. Their balanced attack really does well, and their stars do not disappoint. Michael Vick has a good season, with one of the strongest groups of receivers in the MLF. Their only weaknesses on the season are in the running game, and injuries really affect the team on defense.

3-Louisville Shockers 5-5 (4-4)
A strong offensive line leads the shockers high rated offense to a third place season. They create great separation for running back Najeh Davenport. Davenport is the teams only real offensive star, as Jevan Snead, one of the lower rated quarter backs, performs just about how he is expected to, throwing to some of the lower rated receivers in the league. Their defense also performed well, as their stars did well enough to lead the defense to success.

4-Connecticut Navy 2-8 (2-6)
Although the Navy have one of the most powerful offenses in the east, the Navy have a horrible season, and fourth place in the east. The offense, led by John Kitna, has the second most yards in the east. Rudi Johnson picks up the second most ground yards in the east. Their defense however really hurts them during the season, having the second most yards allowed in the east.

5-Memphis Kings 1-9 (1-7)
The Kings have yet another disappointing season with Graham Harrell at the helm of the offense. Although their squad looked strong, their lack of big stars on offense, and injuries on defense really negatively affects the team.

Playoffs:

ROUND 1

WEST-San Antonio beats Boise
This match up features two teams that split their two regular season contests 1-1. Despite the home field advantage, Boise is unable to stop LaGarrette Blount in this one, as he puts up more yards in this game than he did in any single regular season game, and scores two touchdowns.

EAST-Louisville beats Alabama
Another upset, as the offense of the Shockers just cannot be stopped. Alabama just seems unlucky, as the defense could not stop the attack on the ground, or in the air. This one is close, but the Shockers win by 10.

ROUND 2

WEST-San Antonio loses to Las Vegas
The Aces, who had been dominant all season, continue to be that way in this match up of west rivals. The Aces offense doesn't have it's best game, but it is enough, as the Nightmare stars fail to play as well as they did against Boise. Blount was not playing as well as they needed him to, but the game is close, with the Aces winning by a touchdown.

EAST-Louisville loses to Quebec
Louisville hands this game over to Quebec on a silver platter. In a huge blowout, the Shockers weak defense can do nothing to stop Plummer. The Polaires on the other hand somehow are able to shut down Louisville's strong offense. This one isn't even close as the Polaires roll over the Shockers by at least 3 touchdowns.

MLF CHAMPIONSHIP

Quebec-38 Las Vegas-41
In a battle of the Leagues only champions, this game does not disappoint. In a high scoring, high intensity game, the Aces hit a last second field goal to win the championship. John Parker Wilson throws for three touchdowns, and runs one in himself. Duece McAllister scores three touchdowns for Quebec, but is not able to win the game for them. John Parker Wilson is the game's MVP.

Playoff MVP
John Parker Wilson (Las Vegas)

Offensive Player of the Year
John Parker Wilson (Las Vegas)

Defensive Player of the Year
Kevin Kaesviharn (Quebec)

Rookie of the Year
LaGarrette Blount (San Antonio)

Regular Season MVP
Deuce McAllister (Quebec)

Rosters Updated/Free Agents

Alright I just got done updating all of the rosters and putting the free agent list together, it is huge this year, that doesn't mean its full of great players, but there are some good names in there. Also there are some teams over the Salary CAP limit. My team is not one of them but that's because I release the 70-79 players as backups, instead of the 60 overall guys. This saves like 2 points but some teams can afford to keep the really good backups. Las Vegas and Boise were the only two teams that were actually over, Las Vegas could go back under just with the release of Ryan Leaf. I thought about fixing everyone's roster to be more like mine (have a good starter, and a cheap bad backup, mostly applies for OL), but I think this is a opportunity for the owners to really get to know the players on there team better. So I will send the new rosters out, and free agents. I'll post a free agent thread like we had last year on Saturday probably. Then we will have a whole Free Agent Signing like the one we had last year.

Apology

To the honorable comissioners, fellow owners, and fans:

I'm sorry for my absence as of late. Various things have contributed to that, and I promise to come back active again, starting now. I won't let my Grizzlies fall into disrepair.

-Zane "Beast Mode" Gresens
Owner of the Boise Grizzlies

Updating Rosters

Alright, since I'm updating the rosters, is it okay if I just release the lowest rated player at whatever position you got a draft pick? I could keep them on the roster but this would make it a little easier. Also I'll make a Trade Block post, so if you have some guys you wanna throw a name on the trade block just post them. You may want to wait till after I send the draft updated rosters out but I know Las Vegas has Leaf on the block, so I thought there might be others.

2010 MLF Draft Results

Trades

Alabama Gladiators trades TE Michael Matthews/80 and K Mike Vanderjagt/82 to San Antonio Nightmare in exchange for HB Shaun Alexander/82

Hawai'i trades K Leigh Tiffin/83, G Jake Grove/83, and 14th pick to Alabama Gladiators in exchange for C Evan Mathis/79 and 6th pick

Alabama Gladiators trades 36th pick, WR Tyrone Prothro/82 and CB Tim Jennings/80 to San Antonio in exchange for WR Dante Hall/ 87

I drafted for the following teams, Louisville, Boise, Alabama, Connecticut and Albuquerque. I did the best I could with all the picks, I think you will be happy with them. Mykl drafted for himself and Memphis.

Best Draft IMO: Louisville, capitalized at every position they needed, including a 5th round steal in QB Jevan Snead who is a point better the Brooks.

Worst Draft IMO: Quebec, they did have the last pick in all the rounds, but they picked a Fullback in the 2nd round, when they could have waited a little longer, and then they drafted a Runningback? Which was confusing, they almost got a DT with this pick and called him a LB although he is far to big for this pick. But who knows a 2 Runningback system could work, they could have updated other places though.

I will work on updating all the rosters, and work on putting together a free agent list, and we will have a free agent signing week, then we will look at kicking off!

Draft Tonight

Alright how about we start the draft at around 7:30 eastern/6:30 central time. So far we have, Kevin, TC, Sizemore, Me, Mykl, Burmy, possibly Throwback, possibly BJ, and we haven't heard from Beast Mode or Bmac. Bmac hasn't really said much since being announced as an owner, hopefully he is fully on board with the league. As for Beast Mode, we haven't heard from him for awhile.

We have 6 possibly 8, I am supposed to draft for BJ if he can't make it, but I haven't recieved a email from him saying who he wants, so maybe he's gonna be there. I'll draft for Beast Mode, and I can draft for Bmac too unless he has let someone else know, the only reason I'm volunteering to draft for people is because I know all the team's needs and the players really well since I put together the roster updates and all of the draft prospects.

Also how are we going to do it, we did it on AIM last year and it worked pretty well but I don't know if everyone has a AIM. We could do it on Live Chat but last time we did that it was a fail. So we need to figure out how to do it.

Wtf?

Who stuffed the ballots for Houston? It had liek 3 last time I checked.

Damn, I had an AMAZING idea if phoenix won. I voted once, and I know we don't have 32 followers.

Owner vote in comments?

Draft Confirmation

Just post in this thread if you will be available on Sunday night for the draft. This way we can figure out who needs someone to draft for them, and who will do the drafting. If not enough people can make it, we may have to change the date, but I don't think that will be necessary.

Email Addresses

Okay I'm going to post the email addresses I have, if there is a better one to reach you at let me know.

Beast Mode - live4vgames@sbcglobal.com

I now have Bmac, Kevin, TC, BJ, Throwback, Mykl, Sizemore, and Burmys. I know for sure I have the email they use. I'm having to send another update of the Draft Prospects because I just realized I didn't take off LB Derrick Ballad, he is now on Boise. And I found I guy to replace him in Tray Blackmon so he is on their now with a scouting report. I'm also going to post a Draft Big Board tonight with the Top 15 or 20 players on it. Right now sounds like we are going to try for the draft to be next Sunday night depending on if some more people can come.

Okay Beast Mode can you let me know if you are still using that email address? If so, I will have everyones and you should get the rosters and prospects, if you didn't get that email let me know.

Draft Date

Okay we need to all think of a day we can do the draft, I would think that I can do it any week night except Friday. I could probably do it next Sunday too but I just don't know about Friday or Saturday yet. We could do it tonight but I want to make sure everyone has the chance to be a part of it or at least know that the draft is going on and they have someone they want to pick for them. Last year was not really a good way to do it, because some owners didn't get to tell who they wanted to draft for them which isn't fair. I'll try and sim the tie braker games today, all I gotta do is supersim so it shouldn't take too long.

Also Welcome aboard Bmac! Have you made him an author yet Mykl? And has he said he's moving the team for sure? Just wondering cause you implied it in the last post.

Draft Tonight (Question Mark)

Hey, Kevin is sleeping over at my house tonight and I was wondering who could show up to a draft tonight? We have all the owners locked, so why not try it?

We can worry about Bmac's identity later.
