Rosters Updated/Free Agents

Alright I just got done updating all of the rosters and putting the free agent list together, it is huge this year, that doesn't mean its full of great players, but there are some good names in there. Also there are some teams over the Salary CAP limit. My team is not one of them but that's because I release the 70-79 players as backups, instead of the 60 overall guys. This saves like 2 points but some teams can afford to keep the really good backups. Las Vegas and Boise were the only two teams that were actually over, Las Vegas could go back under just with the release of Ryan Leaf. I thought about fixing everyone's roster to be more like mine (have a good starter, and a cheap bad backup, mostly applies for OL), but I think this is a opportunity for the owners to really get to know the players on there team better. So I will send the new rosters out, and free agents. I'll post a free agent thread like we had last year on Saturday probably. Then we will have a whole Free Agent Signing like the one we had last year.

Updating Rosters & New Owner

Alright I've updated rosters, which means I've updated the ratings and I went ahead and replaced NFL Starters with Draft Prospects, they will be listed in red on the team's roster, that also means the Draft Prospect Document I sent out is subject to change. I will send an updated version of that which will include a "replacement" prospect because we are trying to keep the same amount of the players that were already there. Alright I will post the new Salary Caps for teams as well as any changes that have been made. I will send everyone the rosters, I need Throwback's email address, I think I have everyone elses but if you don't get it after I send it out comment me on here your email and I'll send it out. Also we need to decide who the replacement owner for Albuquerque is because we are moving onto season 2 with 10 teams. We should probably ask Bmac if he would be intrested in taking over Albuquerque since he was supposed to get a team last year. If he doesn't want them then Droozer they are all yours. Also we need to hear from Burmy to make sure he's still on board. After we settle who the new owner(s) is, then we can set a date on the Draft and move onto the start of the season.
Also remember the Salary Cap limit is 180. (+) = Rating Boost, (-) = Rating Dropped
I also put Draft Needs as a catagory, this is the needs for the team in my opinion, some positions I put could just use upgrades as in QB for Hawai'i and Louisville or HB for Boise and San Antonio. Positions like WR can use upgrades for almost every team. Really we need every owner to look at the roster and be there for the Draft, and if they can't be there, they need to pick someone to draft for them and tell them what players they want!

Alabama Gladiators
Salary Cap: 171 (Off: 88 Def. 86)
Roster Notes: Michael Smith replaces Darren Sproles at RB (RB Rating drops 4 points as well as 1 point in Salary).

Albuquerque 47's
Salary Cap: 165 (Off: 84 Def. 81)
Roster Notes: DE Andre Coleman had the most tackles out of any DE, he was also the worst rated at 62, so he received a very large 13 point boost to 75. It also looks like the new owner will have to choose a starter at HB with both guys rated at 84. P Sam Koch (NFL) is replaced by P Scott Ravanesi/81.
Rating Changes: QB Chase Daniel (-4), RB Edgerrin James (-4), RB Dominic Rhodes (+1), WR Brandon Lloyd (+4), TE Tom Santi (+4), DT Jeff Zgonia (+5), DE Andre Coleman (+13), LB Jonathan Goff (+7), LB Robert James (+7), CB Michael Lehan (+5), SS C.C. Brown (+4), SS Brandon McGowan (-3).

Roster Changes: QB Jon Kitna (+3), RB Rudi Johnson (+3), WR Bobby Engram (+1), WR Quan Crosby (+3), TE Jim Kleinsasser (+4), LB D.D. Lewis (+5), LB Shawn Crable (+5), CB Adam Jones (+2), CB Daven Holly (+2), SS Michael Boulware (+5).

Hawai'i Tropics

Draft Needs: OG, OT, DE, QB

Las Vegas Aces
Salary Cap: 168 (Off. 91 Def. 79)
Roster Notes: QB Ryan Leaf has been placed on the Active Roster giving the team 4 QBs, so they are in a position to cut/trade one of them. Leaf drops 3 points after missing the whole season last year. P Jeremy Kapinos(NFL) was replaced by P Derrick Frost/75.

Draft Needs: RB, TE, OG

Quebec Polaires
Salary Cap: 167 (Off. 84 Def. 83)
Roster Notes: CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie(NFL) is replaced by CB Jimmy Williams/86, K Niel Rackers(NFL) is replaced by K Brandon Coutu/85. ROLB Tim Shaw is moved to LOLB to be starter because is a point better the the former starter.

Draft Needs: FB, OT, OG, DE

San Antonio Nightmare
Salary Cap: 164 (Off. 82 Def. 82)
Roster Notes: WR Joey Galloway drops 3 points because he was the 3rd leading reciever on the team, however the Furrey and Hall bumped up enough for the Nightmare to have 3 WRs at 87.

Stats?

When do you think you are going to get done with stats Mykl? I need them to update rosters.

Now as far as salary and everything, we are going to use the same system this year. I wondered if we should drop 90 rated guys from 10 points to 6 or 7 points. Considering they aren't extremely better then 89 rated guys who are 5 points cheaper. Also if guys drop or rise in ratings they become cheaper or more expensive but they keep the same amount of years left on their contract. So for example, Ian Johnson was signed to a 3 year contract since he was an 80 overall, but he will probably be bumped up to 86 or 87 making him a little more expensive at 5 points instead of 3 but he still has 2 years left on his contract. That makes it just like real life where if certain players do well they get raises in bonuses and stuff like that.

Now we do have a free agent pool, but you will not be allowed to sign Free Agents until All-Star Week, which we will hold another Free Agent Week and that will also be the Trade Deadline Week. If a player is injured and he is injured for over 2 weeks then you my sign an "emergency" player. The reason for all of this is because when you edit created team's rosters on Madden, you have to fill in the whole roster all over again, which takes a long time.

I also thought about how many years we are allowed to keep players, and I think I have come up with a good system.
10 point Salary players - 10 seasons (2 and half years)
5 points - 5 seasons (1 1/4 years)
4 points - 4 seasons (1 year)
3 points - 3 seasons (3/4 year)
1 point - 2 seasons (1/2 year)

This system takes place this year, meaning if you have a player you are paying 1 point to this season, you get to keep him for the next 2 seasons instead of him becoming a free agent. Also we can talk about lowering the kickers salarys as well.

Espansion Draft tonight

Alright, I'm free pertty much after 8. So when can Throwback, and NEP/C of Red do it?

I know NEP needs to make an AIM account, and Throwback needs to use normal AIM, not his iPod, or express.

Also anyone can drop by and chat.

Lastly Mike, and I are doing salaries. Everyone in the west is clear, so don't worry.

Salary Cap System

Okay so basically all I did was tweak Mykl's Salary System, for one thing we wont have limits on players, because this will work to where you if your team is loaded with a ton of 85+ guys, your salary will go over the limit. Now no team should be at the 180 limit right now, because all the teams are very average, but after the draft it will go up, I've tested this out on my roster, it is 151 right now, but also know I only have 48 players on my team at the moment and have 2 roster spots to fill.

As far as filling the roster goes, almost every team has 50 players, that is all that the Madden roster allows on a team, so if you have 50 players, and you draft 4 players in each round (I know not everyone has 4 picks but it is the primary example), to sign each player you would have to release 4 players, if you have 3 QBs and you draft one, you would have 4, you can only have 3 QBs so you must release 1 of those players.

Now if you have alot of points taken, you may not be able to sign every draft pick, the only teams I see that possibly happening too is mine or mykls at the moment.

Signing Free Agents will be a very simple system, each team may bid on a player, now say and 80 overall guy is a free agent, you must bid at least 4 points on him, that's the minimal, but you can bid more on them and that's how we figure out which team get's him. The player is taken by the highest bid after the free agent signing period ends unless someone puts a bid on a player and everyone else announces they dont want too bid on that player then he can sign after say 3 days or so.
Salary Cap system – Roster Max. 50 (180)
Overall..........................Points
90+....................................10
85-89..................................5
80-84.................................4
79-70..................................3
69-......................................1

Okay so I'll go through and figure out each team's salary, I'm sure there will be some questions, so just comment.

Salary

Alright, I got bored, and made up the salary system. I went by ratings. The higher the player is rated, the more "points" they are worth. There's also a limit on the amount of players per ranking group you can have. To keep it fair.

Ovr.....Limit...Points
91+..... 2 ... 10
86-90... 5 ... 5
85-81... 15 ... 4
80-71... -- ... 3
70-61... -- ... 2
60-..... -- ... 1

The cap of all the players is 180. I have 156 right now, which is before roster boosts. I did include Leaf as an 86, since Mike said that's where he'd be.

So what'd you all think?

Salary Talk

Hey guys I want to try and clear this up before next season and All-Star Week seems like a good time. I think it will be easy cause we got some ideas out there that seem preety good, I tink we should do something like the XFL did (click on this link to read about it), and there was an idea to use a Salary System simular to the old Triple Play (I think it was Triple Play) baseball games.
