Week 1 Games Report

Let's keep all the games, scores, stats, and a brief recap in one post for the whole weeks games.

Quebec @ Lincoln (Globe Game in London)
QUE 0-7-3-6-16
LIN 0-14-14-13-41

Led by two kickoff returns for touchdowns, one for Justin Woodall and one for Brandon Lloyd, the Pioneers (1-0) kicked off their first year in Lincoln with a victory over the defending champion Polaires (0-1). Daunte Cullpepper completed 19 of 24 passes and two touchdowns in the win while Quebec's Jake Plummer threw costly interceptions. The Pioneers dominated the game throughout to pick up the franchise's first regular season victory ever and the first win in Lincoln.

POTG: Justin Woodall - 2 INT, 1 KRTD

San Antonio @ Hawaii
SAN 0-7-10-0-17
HAW 7-17-7-0-31

In the first game at the brand new Hawaiian Airlines Stadium at the Boardwalk, the Hawaii Tropics (1-0) led by new QB Colt Brennan, defeated their division rivals, the Nightmare (0-1). The Trops took an early lead, but were denied an early 14-0 lead on a goal line stand. Shane Graham had a 57-yard FG attempt blocked in the 2nd quarter, but on the next drive converted from 52. The Tropics scored twice in the final 1:03 before the half, as a SA fumble put the game out of reach early. The victory was a costly one though for the Tropics, as they have lost RB Ian Johnson to a broken wrist for the next 12 weeks. He would be able to return for MLF Championship 3 at the earliest.

POTG: Colt Brennan - 2 Passing TDs, 2 Rushing TDs

Connecticut @ Alabama
CON 0-7-14-14-35
ALA 14-14-7-7-42

The Gladiators (1-0) were able to get out to a quick 28-0 lead and hang on to get the 42-35 victory over the Navy (0-1) to open the season Friday night. Before the game, former Gladiator Darren Sproles had his jersey retired before the game and being the honorary coin flipper. The retired jersey can be seen here. After two Michael Vick touchdowns to put Alabama up 28-0, John Kitna led the Navy down the field to get a touchdown on the board before the half. After another Navy touchdown to start of the 2nd half, the lead was cut to 28-14. The Gladiators stretched the lead back out to 21 when Korean Robinson took the kickoff back 83-yards for the touchdown. After Connecticut QB Jon Kitna went down, former Hawaii Tropic Jason White led the Navy on a comeback and was able to cut the lead to 7 with 1:06 left in the game before the Gladiators recovered to onside kick to run out the clock. Alabama RB Michael Smith will be out until Week 4 with Elbow Bursitis and Connecticut QB Jon Kitna will be out until the MLF Championship with a broken collarbone.

POTG: Michael Vick - 3 Passing TDs, 1 Rushing TD

Boise @ Las Vegas
BOI 7-7-7-0-21
LV 7-3-0-6-16

Despite a 62 yard fumble returned for a touchdown to start the game, the Aces (0-1) weren't able to handle King and the Grizzlies (1-0). The Grizzlies answered with a Kenny Irons touchdown. Shaun Suisham made a 24 yard field goal with under a minute left in the 2nd to take a 10-7 lead for the Aces, but Shaun King led his Grizzlies down the field for a touchdown right before halftime, giving the Grizzlies a 14-10 halftime lead. Boise got a huge interception returned for a touchdown to stretch the lead to 21-10. The Aces were able to score late but failed a 2 point conversion. The Grizzlies ran out the clock to pick up the win in their season openers.

POTG: Tavares Gooden (BOI) - 7 TACK, 1 TFL, 1 INT (TD)

Louisville @ Memphis
LOU 7-0-14-21-42
MEM 3-21-0-6-30

Louisville's new starting quarterback Jevan Snead out of Ole Miss led the Shockers (1-0) past the Kings (0-1) in a rivalry game to start the season. Martin Gramatica kicked a 23-yard field goal to start off the scoring in this wide open game before Snead threw his first MLF Touchdown on the next drive. The Kings got 3 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter, 1 on a Pick 6 to go up 24-7 at the half and this game looked like it would be a blowout. The Shockers returned from the break a brand new team however, and Davenport and Snead touchdowns cut the lead to 3 by the end of the 3rd. Louisville was able to take the lead in the 4th and then a costly fumble for Memphis allowed the Shockers to stretch the lead out to 11. After a big kickoff return from Marvin Harrison, the Kings were able to cut the lead to 5 before failing the 2-point conversion. The Shockers got an insurance touchdown to take the lead 42-30, the final score.

POTG: Jevan Snead - 3 Passing TDs, 300+ Yards

Gotcha covered. Oh, and justin.tv was an epic fail so that's over with.

Big Mike said...

Alright haha, I watched most of it, it was kinda blurry and the site took forever to load but it was an exciting game, nice to see Lincoln win and Woodall (Roll Tide) shine!

Crash said...

Mike, which of the other teams do you have done on TB? I could sim another game now...

Big Mike said...

Right now, I've just got Alabama and Hawai'i done, so I'll work on San Antonio right now, and you can do that game, and then I'll work on Connecticut and we can do that game 3rd.

Crash said...

Alright, don't know if I could get to a 3rd game - but post when San Antonio's done - I'll get to downloading HAW and ALA's updates now.

Big Mike said...

I can do the 3rd and 4th game if you want me too. I can't film them yet cause I haven't gotten a web cam or anything but I'm going to try to sometime in the next couple weeks since I've gotten some extra money lately.

Crash said...

I'm not gonna film the rest of the games I'm doing - especially not on justin.tv lol that was terrible.

Big Mike said...

Alright I'm done with San Antonio sizemore, sorry it took me so long but San Antonio had the most roster changes.

Crash said...

Alright, I'll sim it now.

F***!

Big Mike said...

Man that sucks Ian Johnson gets out for the whole season in the first game. Holliday is pretty good though. Also Carr went 1 for 32? haha, I'll get Connecticut done and sim that game and try and get Louisville and Memphis done to sim there game tonight too.

Crash said...

Oh man, thanks for catching that before I left the game.

That's an 18/32 for Carr.

Crash said...

Write a write-up similar to mine that I've done and just edit this post. Say like, "The Gladiators (1-0) opened up their Season 3 campaign with a decisive win over the Navy (0-1). QB Mike Vick threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for two more, while Rudi Johnson was the only sign of life for the Navy with 3 TDs himself." lol

Big Mike said...

You can pick up a Runningback out of the Free Agency if you wanna feel Ian's spot since he will be inactive for the rest of the regular season.

Big Mike said...

Alright haha hopefully it will turn out like you wrote it lol.

Crash said...

Haha I'm guessing it will.

Hawaii signs HB/Shun White/US Naval Academy

Crash said...

Johnson would be eligible to return theoretically in Week 14 (which would be the Championship).

Weeks 1-10
All-Star Game somewhere
Conference Semi-Finals
Conference Finals
MLF Championship

Big Mike said...

All Star Week will be after Week 5, so he'd actually be able to play in the Conf. Champ if Hawai'i makes it.

Big Mike said...

Alright I'm starting on Game 3 right now, I could possibly do Game 4 tonight but it would be really late. So I may wait to do it and Game 5 tommorow.

Crash said...

Alright - and I'm saying does he miss 12 games (weeks 2-13) or can he return in the 12th game (week 13)?

Crash said...

Mike, so are you simming the game now? lol

Crash said...

Also Mike, can I take down last years PoTW winners?

Big Mike said...

Yeah I got held up on the start because I had to update my system (you have to do that on ps3 to sign in sometimes and it takes forever). Also sure you can erase the POTW from last season but keep the section up so I can use it for this season. He can return on the 12th game, because hes only out 12 weeks, and that includes All-Star Week.

Connecticut (0-1)
White - 10-14, 201 YDS, 2 TD
Kitna - 14-24, 136 YDS, 2 TD, 2 INT
Johnson - 13 RUSH, 83 YDS, 1 TD, 8 REC, 73 YDS, 2 TD - 4 KR, 80 YDS
Engram - 5 Rec, 152 YDS, 1 TD - 3 KR, 79 YDS - 1 PR, 8 YDS
Cosby - 5 REC, 44 YDS, 1 TD

Lewis - 10 TACK, 1 TFL
A. Jones - 6 TACK
Blackmon - 4 TACK
Williams - 4 TACK
Plackemeir - 0/1, 5/5 XP

Big Mike said...

Throwback you can sign a Quarterback from Free Agency to replace Kitna on the Active roster. Also, Mykl are you still doing stats?

Crash said...

Well, good to see Jason White getting his chance. If you don't mind I'll probably re-write your post a bit Mike. Overall, nice job though.

I'd be able to do stats if you guys wanted me to.

Crash said...

If Johnson and Kitna are out for 12 weeks, here's the weeks they'd miss.

-Week 2
-Week 3
-Week 4
-Week 5
-ASG
-Week 6
-Week 7
-Week 8
-Week 9
-Week 10
-Conf Semifinals
-Conference Finals
MLF Championship 3

So, they'd be able to return for the MLF Championship after missing their 12 weeks. (If a player gets hurt in Week 1 and misses 1 week, they'd be able to return in Week 3, not Week 2).

Big Mike said...

Yeah I guess thats right, I was trying to do it all in my head haha. So Smith could return in Week 4, since he is out 2 weeks right?

Crash said...

Correct.

Bmac said...

Yay, Lincoln's first win!

And I think I might be changing green to gold in my color set.

Big Mike said...

Alright cool Bmac, btw who is doing your logos and uniforms? Just curious haha, and I've gotten Las Vegas and Boise updated, I was going to do one tonight but I got home too late. So I will try to do it tommorow and if I'm not busy update Louisville and Memphis and sim them too.

Crash said...

Work on getting Louisville and Memphis updated before you sim any games. I can sim both of them tomorrow if that's what has to be done.

Beast Mode said...

Boise is ready for our game!

Big Mike said...

Alright every team is updated, for next week make sure to update all the teams sizemore because some of the teams have changed since there are injuries.

I'll sim Boise-Las Vegas around 2, and then I can do Memphis-Louisville or if you want that game Sizemore you can do it.

Big Mike said...

Boise's defense is good. The Aces had some scares. Hall and Jones were injured but they were able to return.

Since I'm missing a RB and a DT I guess I'll pick up Maurice Clarett and Josh Shaw.

Big Mike said...

I think you only got 3 points to spend, so if you want to bid low on them you gotta wait till all-star week, cause thats when we will bid again. You can sign the lowest rated players for 1 point though. But unless someone gets injured you don't really need any 3rd stringers at that position.

I'll sim Louisville and Memphis a little bit later. I'm watching the MTV movie awards though haha.

Kevin said...

alright just give me the lowest rated guys then.

I guess I will do stats this year since Mykl hasn't said anything.

Crash said...

I'll do them too so we can make sure we have matching stats if that makes sense.

Big Mike said...

Yeah that works, do you have the Excel Sheet from last year? I'm just going to redo it since its already got everything laid out.

Crash said...

Oh, I don't - can you send it to me?
