Week 2 Games Report

Lincoln @ Boise
LIN-7-7-0-0-14
BOI-0-10-7-7-24

Led by 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Kenny Irons, the Grizzlies (2-0) were able to defeat the Pioneers (1-1) on Thursday night. After an Irons injury in the 1st quarter, Lincoln took the 7-0 lead on a Rhodes 4-yard touchdown rush. Irons would return to rush for his first touchdown early in the second which was followed by a Huston field goal as a result of a Culpepper fumble to give the Griz a 10-7 lead. Dante Culpepper connected with Dominic Rhodes from 4 yards out to finish the half up 14-10. The second half was all Boise, as a 66-yard Shaun King touchdown run and another Irons score got the lead out to 24-14. Culpepper led the Pioneers down the field one more time at the end of the game only to throw an interception on the 10 to seal the deal.

POTG: Kenny Irons - 2 Rushing TDs, 101 Rushing Yards

Memphis @ Hawaii
MEM-7-7-7-10-31
HAW-0-6-3-7-16

The Memphis Kings (1-1) were able to convert on many Hawaii (1-1) mistakes to pull out the 31-16 victory. The Tropics turnover woes began when the opening drive ended on the Memphis 9 after a Colt Brennan interception. A pair of Marvin Harrison touchdown receptions put the Kings up 14-0 early before Colt Brennan was able to get his 3rd rushing touchdown of the season but Shane Graham missed the extra point after missing a 51-yard field goal earlier. The Tropics were able to get a stop at the beginning of the 3rd quarter, but stalled on the Memphis 6 and had to settle for a 23-yard field goal bringing it to 14-9. After a Martin Gramatica missed field goal, the Tropics were not able to convert on the good field position, throwing an interception that led to a D. Dickerson 40-yard touchdown reception putting the Kings up 21-9 at the end of 3. Freddie Barnes scored his first career pro football touchdown on a 94-yard kickoff return to begin the 4th quarter and give the Tropics some life. But an Andre Dixon touchdown put the Kings back up by 12 with 2:31 to go in the game before Colt Brennan was intercepted for a third time in the game, sealing the deal before the Kings tacked on a 28-yard field goal with :31 left.

POTG: Graham Harrell - 3 Passing TDs, 326 Passing Yards

Las Vegas @ San Antonio
LV-0-14-7-7-28
SA-0-3-7-0-10

The Aces (1-1) went into San Antonio and beat the Nightmare (0-2) behind a strong 3 touchdown effort from JP Wilson. After a boring first quarter, the Aces got on the board first when Wilson and Hall connected for a 5-yard touchdown before the Nightmare responded with a 41-yard field goal to make it 7-3. A Roscoe Parrish 59-yard touchdown return put the Aces up 14-3 right before the half. A Kevin Jones 1-yard touchdown run gave the Aces a commanding 21-3 lead early in the 3rd before LeGarrette Blount punched one in from 4-yards out to cut the lead to 11. Bubba Franks then hooked up with John Parker Wilson for the 9-yard touchdown pass and the lead was back out to 18, effectively ending the scoring as the Aces pulled out a relatively easy victory in San Antonio.

POTG: John Parker Wilson - 3 Passing TDs, 213 Passing Yards

Quebec @ Connecticut
QUE-7-14-9-0-30
CON-3-3-0-16-22

The Polaires (1-1) survived a comeback by the Connecticut Navy (0-2) to hold on for the defending champions' first win of the season. The Navy started off the scoring on a 43-yard field goal before the Polaires answered with a touchdown pass from Jake Plummer to Joe Horn. Plummer would hook up with Horn again for another score early in the second to stretch the lead out to 14-3. Plackemeir would hit again, this time from 24-yards out to cut the lead down to 8 before Plummer would lead the Polaires down the field for a third touchdown pass of the game to get the lead back up to 15. The Polaires stalled on their first drive of the second half but pinned Connecticut on their own 3. Ahman Green couldn't get the ball out of the endzone, and the safety made the Quebec lead 23-6. Plummer would then throw his fourth touchdown pass of the game, this time to Deuce, to make the lead 24 with two and a half minutes still remaining in the 3rd. White would hit Green for a touchdown to start the 4th and the Navy would convert the 2 point conversion bringing the lead down to 16 and the lead was cut to 8 on a White to Cosby touchdown and a following 2 point conversion from the Navy. Out of timeouts, they had to onside kick, but the Polaires would prevail 30-22. Connecticut HB Rudi Johnson was injured with a broken thumb and will be out 4 weeks (return Week 6 after the ASG) while Quebec TE Todd Yoder will be out for Week 3's game with back spasms.

POTG: Jake Plummer - 4 Passing TDs, 344 Passing Yards

Tavares Gooden had another huge game, I thought about picking him or King, but Irons had a nice game and theres only been like 3 100+ rushing games this season so I thought he deserved it.

Crash said...

Yeah 2 TDs in a 24-14 game gets you PoTG.

I'll write a recap now.

Crash said...

Okay, I don't feel like doing stats lol but once you're done with Week 1's stats can you send em over to me?

Big Mike said...

Yeah haha, I was going to send them to you after I fixed all of them but I haven't done it yet haha. Lol I love how no ones responded except us in forever.

Big Mike said...

Oh and Sizemore make sure you check to see if teams are Up to Date before you sim, especially the teams with injuries.

Crash said...

Oh don't worry I'm doing all 10 of them and checking for updates. I'm going to sim a game now and then probably split it around the WC match. I can't use my HD TV though for this so I'm using a smaller one.

Ah what the heck, I thought I was simming Quebec and Connecticut? Lol I'll just do the GoTW tonight, since its the primetime game and everyting haha.

Big Mike said...

Alright Sizemore I'm guessing XXXXXXX is Dickerson because his name gets blocked out in teambuilder because it says dick in it lol.

Crash said...

Please do GoTW tonight lol I don't feel like simming anymore - I did QUE/CON because I didn't know if you wanted it simmed or not.

And yeah, probably it's Dickerson.

Big Mike said...

Yeah it's cool haha, I'll just do the GoTW tonight. And I changed the spelling of his name so its spelled wrong but it should show up now.

Crash said...

Haha nice. Sucks to be Connecticut though. They'll be 0-5 at the break without Kitna and Johnson.

Crash said...

"3-San Antonio Nightmare 7-3 (5-3)
San Antonio has their most successful season yet, led by David Carr, who gains the most passing yards, and second most passing touchdowns behind Las Vegas' Wilson."

Hahahahahaha Carr has been worthless this year. 12/35 today? You guys suck, I mean you lost to the Tropics who were ya know supposed to be 1-9. 0-2 -> 7-3 - yeah not happening.

Big Mike said...

Easy Sizemore lol, it was just a prediction haha.
