Leaf Suspended 5 games!

Breaking News Story on Espn.
Here is the link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4196444

"CANYON, Texas -- Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf has been indicted by a Randall County grand jury on drug and burglary charges.

The indictment handed up Wednesday in Canyon charged the 33-year-old former San Diego Chargers quarterback and former West Texas A&M quarterbacks coach with one count of burglary to a habitation, seven counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and one count of delivery of a simulated controlled substance."

Suspensions do come into play this season, and this look's like the Playoff MVP could be handed a suspesion, it is un-clear how many games yet, as we will moniter the situation some more. I will check out NFL cases like this and see how many games players in these situations get suspended.

A sad day for the Reigning Champs, and their Star Player. Leaf is an 86 overall which is the highest rating among all Active QBs in the league.

After Analyzing the situation Leaf will be handed a 5 game Suspension, he must serve this suspension for the first 5 games of the season next year. If Leaf is sentenced to jail time he will be suspended indefinately meaning he will not be allowed to play until his release and re-instatement. Kordell Stewart is the current backup for the Aces, he is a 79 rating.

Pennington Retires, Harrell will take place

Well this is really to make the leauge more realistic, since Chad Pennigton has become a NFL Starter for the NFL, He has announced his retirement from MLF, to be fair and not leave Memphis without a QB, Both Commishners have decided to award them with a rookie QB of the same rating. So Texas Tech star Grahm Harrell (83) will now be placed on the Mempis Roster and will likely be the starter next season. Pennington has become a Huge Name and Ever Game starter which is why he is retiring and others that are backups in the NFL are not. Memphis Owner Mburmy has been contacted and said that the deal sounded good. So the #3 QB Grahm Harrell will now be removed from the Available QBs for the draft.

POS Preview: Quarterback

Alright this is the first edition of the Positions Preview. I will do it for every position. I included all of the current QB Depth Charts for each team which includes the new ratings. Today's draft provided us with a huge QB class. I think we got 10 Rookie Quarterbacks coming in that have never taken a snap out of college, stars like Grahm Harrell and Chase Daniel, Brian Johnson and John Parker Wilson (Roll Tide!), and the studs who made their name big for at least one year, Todd Boeckman, Cullen Harper, Sean Glennon and more. I very large draft class that will probably provide us with alot of free agents.

Alright so there are all of the Free Agent Quarterbacks that will be available for draft, I was thinking maybe after we get all teams filled, we should make a time of day were we can have a 3 round QB draft.

College Standouts - Quarterbacks

Alright since we are using free agents to make teams, and half of the free agents are not good. Mykl had the idea of creating players, so for this we were thinking off College Standouts meaning College players who were good but didn't make it to the pros or tryed but now they are not.
So I searched and found a couple guys, Mykl brought up the Oklahoma Sooners former QB Jason White. I will post some in formation about them and why they are not in the pros today, For creating the players we are going to have to look at stats and decide on thier pros and cons to make thier ratings. This post is for Quarterbacks only, I will make a seperate post for each position. Here are some of the guys I found.

NAME NUMBER COLLEGE AGE HEIGHT AWARDS / ACHIVEMENTS

Jason White #18 Oklahoma 28 6’3 226 Former Heisman Trophy Winner
Info: Jason White was a former Heisman Trophy Winner. As a succesful starter in college he wasn't the same in the pros. He played in the Spring squad for the Tennessee Titans but was released due to injury.

Chris Leak #12 Florida 24 5’11 212 Former National Championship MVP
Info: Chris Leak a former Nat. Champ. for Florida, he was signed by the bears and was a 3rd string for one year. He then annouced he would play for Team Florida in the All American Football League but the league has suspended it's start for 2009. He has signed with two diff. CFL teams but hasn't seen action.

Jared Zabransky #5 Boise State 24 6’2 219 Former Fiesta Bowl MVP
Info: Zabransky is most famous for leading the Broncos of Boise State to upset Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. He was also the Cover Athlete for NCAA FOOTBALL 08. He was undrafted but signed with Houston in the NFL, however Head Coach Gary Kubiak prefers to have only two QBs and cut Zabransky off the roster. He also signed with the steelers but was cut after injury and is now a free agent.

Tim Couch #2 Kentucky 31 6’4 225 Former #1 NFL Draft Pick
Info: Tim Couch was drafted Number 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns in 1999, but did not live up to his reputation there. So he is now a free agent in the NFL and has been in the league for 9 years, if you want experiance and a leader then Couch is a good way to go.

Quincy Carter #17 Georgia 31 6'2 213 Former NFL Starting QB
Info: Carter played college for the Georgia Bulldogs, where he won the SEC Freshman of the year in 1998. He has played for a couple NFL teams most known for his stint with the Dallas Cowboys there he started as a rookie and had a great year. He lost the job in his second season. He gained it back however in his 3rd season but was released the year after. He started 3 games for the New York Jets but was released due to drug realated offers. Since he has skipped around from the CFL, AFL, and af2, he is now a NFL and AFL free agent.

Aaron Brooks # 2 Virginia 32 6'4 220 Saints all-time Touchdown Passer
Info: Brooks is most famous for being a star QB for the New Orleans Saints, where he currently holds the record for the most touchdown passes. He is also known for being former Atlanta Falcons QB Mike Vick's cousin. He played one season at Oakland. He has retired from the NFL but (play along) has told MLF commisioner he wants to be a franchise QB in the MLF.

Alright I know there are only 5, tonight I plan on helping Mykl (raysox) in getting all the free agent QBs up. If you know of any more College Standouts at QB please leave a comment and tell us.
